Portals and Pathways: A Book Beyond the Exhibition
The book accompanying “Portals and Pathways” is more than an exhibition catalogue—it marks the opening of the Nuhad Es-Said Pavilion, a new cultural space within the National Museum of Beirut. Conceived as a "book-object," it offers insight into the exhibition’s conception and preparation, and sheds light on the role of conservation in restoring modern works from the Lebanese Ministry of Culture’s collection. Three dedicated inserts give voice to the National Museum and the exhibition’s key stakeholders, while four artists expand their exhibited work through fold-out pages, extending their reflections beyond the Pavilion’s walls.
-scope Ateliers designed the trilingual publication, ensuring a fluid reading experience that reflects the exhibition’s layered narrative. The design integrates elements that echo the exhibition’s themes and spatial experience, creating a cohesive visual identity that enhances the dialogue between the artworks, the Pavilion, and its audience.
